Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : || Tremors. The ground shook violently, braziers toppled over, roofs in the city supported by a beam or two collapsed. Balconies crumbled only to plumment to the ground. The sound of land shifting, of the earth itself being ripped apart with a massive force, as if the Gods had struck it with a mighty blow, could be heard throughout the land. The sky dimmed, the twin suns of Larlandarl crossing paths, only to be blotted out by the largest of the four moons, creating a solar eclipse >

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : unlike anything witnessed in the Empire of Deathstalker ever before. Over a thousand years had passed since the last occurence, forgotten in time, lost in the history books. Or perhaps never written at all. This was different, something was not the same. Darkness covered all of Larlandarl, forcing the denizens to light fires, candles, and whatever else. It was as if the day had turned to night. The air was thick with the smell of sulphur as it wafted in from the Valley of Horses. >

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : Worst of all was the blinding light, the flames of the depths rising upward in the darkness. Something was taking place just beyond the valley. A ravine, a collosal rip in the earth. What would later become known as The Rift, had opened. Within it, a hulking massive creature that would tower over even Drenai himself lifted a crudely made battleaxe high above its head. A piercing roar echoed into The Rift and beyond, followed by similar roars brought forth from the thousands of creatures >

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : within The Rift. Up the walls they scaled, using clawed hands to move as easily as they walked. Onto the surface. Scores of the creatures, thousands upon thousands poured out in an endless tide of black and red mass. Armor of burnt and poorly molded material adorning their bodies as they poured out from The Rift, heading down the valley. Heading for Immortalis. Farms were engulfed by the horde. None were spared. Everything was trampled. Children, adults, farm animals. >

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : It was all destroyed. The large creature, now on the surface, depicted Belial himslf. A massive creature twisted and disfigured, but altered. Another such avatar, or perhaps far worse. The embodiement of Belial's power. The eclipse had given rise to the darkness. A celestially event that tapped into the very power of the planet, of the realms. Belial had siezed that power. Utilizing his ever growing power in his stride to victory in the Heavens, reaching out to the land of Larlandarl to crush any >

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : opposition. That oppoistion...the Empire of Deathstalker. Shouting in a guttarl language, words twisted and hardly dicpherable, the mere voice echoed into the darkened day. "BRING ME THEIR HEADS!" Weapons raised, the charge forward came. And soon, the city of Immortalis was faced with the real impending danger of the enemy at its doorstep. Man sized beings, giant sized beings. Insects half the size of dragons rose from the rift as well, they too twisted by the darkness, by experiments that >

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : altered their being into becoming servants of Belial. Riders atop them, armed with spears and crossbows tipped with poisons and disease. Onward came the enemy force, much larger than any had likely anticipated, and with such a showing of force that even the Gods likely feared for the outcome of Empire. It was War. >

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : -----------------

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : Atop the battlements stood the General of the West, watching as the suns shifted, became blocked and blanketed the land in darkness. Commanders came to stand beside their General, looking upward with him in awe. Questions rose abound, what was it. What was happening. The city was silent, everybody staring upward, everybody watching, wondering. Then came the roars, the burst of fires rising into the sky. The crimson flashes granting just a small glimpse of the incoming tide of >

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : enemies. One horn sounded in the valley, only to be cut short. But that was all that was needed. Another sounded, and soon, the city itself sounded horns. The guard towers and posts alerting the very heart of the Empire of what was taking place. They were being attacked. The enemy was here, at their doorstep. Had Belial won? Did he topple Sophia and claim his victory, and now meant to forge the land in his image? Questions that were being spouted as Viktor turned sharply. >

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : "TO THE GATES! DO NOT LET THEM ENTER THE CITY!" The men burst forth, leaving the battles in such haste as the might of the Empire filed out into the courtyard. Hundreds of men and women, the first response to an attack on the city. They did not march, they did not walk. They ran. They pushed through the city, to the gates, meeting a clash of swords just as they exited. Viktor moved swiftly into the castle, grabbing any he could, issuing orders as he went. >

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : "I want the City Guard to manage the people. Keep any who cannot fight or lend aid to the injured in doors. Lock the city down, I want nobody wandering who is not there to put their lives on the line. Any able bodied man or woman who wishes to protect their home, give them some armor and weapons, send them to the gates. I'll not have those damned things in the city!" What were they, Viktor was asked as he kept moving through the halls. >

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : "Paleblood. I'd recognize that stench anywhere. Ancient race, thought to have wiped themselves out. Seems they just went underground and well.... They're no longer anything more than a beast. Do not stay your blade. Cut down every last one." How the hell could he have missed this!? The Empire would not fall on his watch. "You! Go door to door. I want every single one of our men and women out there now." The entire castled turing into a rushing mass of people, courtiers, couriers, armor. >

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : Sentinels scrambled to try and protect their charges. Every single one was now on duty, the Throne Room lined with more full bodied soldiers than had ever likely been seen before. At least in a long time. Outside of the castle, at the gates that were used to deploy the massive force that comprised of the Empire's military, thousands mobilized. Dragons took to the air, the other creatures of the Empire called forth to aid in the fight. The Empire would lose much this day. >

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : Viktor was aware of that, and so, as the relatively small force that had gone to the gate of the city to hold it, Viktor had already dismissed over two thousand to back them up, at least to give them some breathing room. It was all the needed. The opposition was crushed, the small forward unit of a few hundred were demolished, albeit with losses, and now the force of the Empire could dig themselves in. Viktor too had joined the battle, emerging splatterd with a white and silvery substance, >

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : the reason for the enemie's namesake. Pale blood. Climbing to the top of the city gates as even more of the military poured in. Looking over the those who just halted the first advance, to those now arriving to protect their home, to fight on a battlefield they never dreamed would happen, Viktor cleared his throat. "THIS IS IT! THIS DAY IS WHAT WE'VE BEEN TRAINING FOR! THIS DAY IS THE DAY DEATHSTALKER STANDS AGAINST ALL ODDS. WE WILL HOLD THIS LINE! >

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : WE WILL TURN BACK THE TIDE OF DARKNESS! YOU'VE TASTED WHAT WE'RE UP AGAINST. IT WILL NOT BE EASY! IT WILL NOT BE FAIR! BUT WE WILL PREVAIL! WE WILL PROTECT OUR HOME!" Shouting over the sheer mass of armored soldiers, of the fighting in the distance, the small explosions that occured from dragons raining down fireballs onto the enemy. Of dragons falling from the sky to collide with the enemy. The losses would be enormous. >

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : "DO NOT LET THEM SEE YOUR FEAR! THEY CANNOT, THEY WILL NOT, ENTER OUR CITY, OUR HOME! WE ARE DEATHSTALKER! AND WE WILL EMERGE VICTORIOUS!" Unsheathing of a scimitar came to be thrust into the sky, a rare event where the power of Viktor was shown as the crystalline like blade began to glow with a light to combat the darkness, casting that faint glow for a short time among the column of soliders, basking them in the light the ether. >

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : "TO WAR!" A war that would need everybody. The Princesses, the Princes, the Bastards, the Traitors, the Fallen, the Forgotten, the Retired. And most importantly, the Men and Women of the Empire. Those who served, those who vowed to protect what was now their home. A rise of weapons, a call of glory as the moral of the troops were high despite the darkness. For now, anyway. The shouts echoed back, the voice of the Empire colliding with the voice of the enemy. >

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : A roar sounded in protest, in defiance. More and more soldiers poured out into the outskirts of the city, torches lit, large braziers erected to stand stand to give them men and women hope the light would return. All the while the enemy came closers. Tens of thousands. The Rift seemingly had a never ending supply of Paleblood. "PUSH THEM BACK!" A call as the miltiary advanced, Viktor's nightmare steed came forth, rising from the smoky depths of the abyss beside him. >

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : Mounting it, it reared up and snorted the flames from its nostrils before it lept off the gate onto the ground before the collected gathering. Forward, the military charged, to meet this enemy with force, to give time to everybody else who would join the fray. That was what was needed. Time. It was something they did not have...

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : -----------------

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : Orders given. Commands and Lieutenants dashing through the halls to find their respective recipients. Drenai, Shaughnessy, Wrath, Kirsten, Valance, Gabrielle, Synthia and Darian, Josephine, Eione,Tirian, Neren, Lior, Jade. The ones that were likely known to be within the confine of the castle walls. Even more ventured into the city. Katalina, Nevaeh, Drizzten, Hemakshi, Galen, Alaire, Johnathan, Owen. Any whom they recognized that had fought for or with the Empire before. >

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : Every blade, claw and tooth counted. Scribes and clerics were sent to those that could not be found in daylight, due to the vampiric nature, to offer assistance should they not be able to withstand being out even in this darkness. But without the suns, without the light, it was as if the Empire had been cast into perpetual night, only without the Moons. The moons themselves taken on a red-ish hue, their normally brilliant radiance marred by the crimson of Hell, or blood. Sentinels and >

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : clerics were doubled to find Shaughnessy, knowing the avatar herself would likely be experiencing perhaps the most hardship from the moons being tainted. Synthia as well had her guard doubled, protect her and the door at all costs. A last resort should the castle fall. Without her, without the door being able to be opened, Belial would surely win. Drenai himself had the Sentinels lining the hallway outside of his quarters, all the way to the Throne Room. >

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : Their priority was to protect the Monarch, wherever he should go. The city itself had people ushered home, to the Temple of Sophia, to safe locations in cellars of taverns and such. The gates were locked down, closed, opening only for the military and those trying to mend the wounds of the injured.. Field hospitals set up inside the gates, the market square, even the streets were becoming places for the wounded to be laid down. >

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : -----------------

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : The war was on. Belial had awoken an ancient race of beings that had long since disappeared. His power growing tenfold due to the celestial alignment, the suns blocking each other and then blotted out by the largest moon. A ring of fire within the sky is was all that visible. Twisting feral creatures into servants of darkness. Giant creatures that was twice the size of a man, muscles nearly ripping through skin, destroying buildings with a swipe of whatever weapon they chose. >

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : The giant insects, vile bugs born of darkness, with wings of bats, they could be called demons if not for their eyes, dozens of lenses to give a near three sixty degree view in front of them. Spitting poison and acid. The farms stood no chance. Behind it all, the Behemoth. Their leader, their General. The creature contorted to appear Belial himself, at least facially, wielding to large battleaxes with two arms on each side of its body. Commanding his own army, focusing them on the city of Immortalis and >

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : Castle itself. A massive push to crush his enemy, to ensure his victory. Belial was out to win. The Siege on Immortalis had begun. ||

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : || The wall had held. The soldiers had held. The line..had held. Immortalis still stood. Some damage, but nothing they had not overcome in the past. This was relatively calm compared what the city had been through before. The darkness still prevalent, the looming enemy still there outside of the city. But Deathstalker still stood, remained strong. In fact, correspondence had been sent. The military was closing in. To the far flung reaches of the Empire had word been sent. Send home any they could spare. >

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : Form up beyond the Paleblood. Crush them from both sides. Enough to cause a distraction. Strategy for another day. For now, the General moved through the city flanked by Sentinels. If not being shorter than Drenai, the man may have been mistaken for the Emperor as orders were issued with nearly each passing step. Soldiers, city guard, mercenaries. Anybody who fought, anybody who lent a hand to the Empire, was now being ordered to do what must be done. "I want taverns and inns taking in any with their >

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : homes destroyed. I want food and water rationed and distributed among the people. Archers on every ship leaving the docks heading to Port Crescent. And on their return. We will not have our only supply line cut off as well." Sure, dragons could've been used for such, but that took time, and well, the dragons were busy being used for war. As were the wyverns, the eagles. And any other form of flying mount the Empire had acquired. Each step had the General pointing, giving orders to be relayed. "Any >

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : problems in the city are to be removed. Executed for treason in a time of war." Which also meant any of the military getting out of hand. Killing a guard or solider to set an example or to right a wrong was not an uncommon thing among those in charge. Fear and tyranny, with just enough justice and compassion. A fine line in all regards. "How are the tents? The clerics and healers?" Set up in makeshift tents in town square for the time being, Viktor made sure those people could be adequately taken care of >

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : to ensure their chances of survival. To the walls of the city, climbing the towers to look upon darkened field and the mass of bodies, both ally and foe alike. "Disease will spread quickly. Burn them the best you can, as quickly as can. Let fly barrels of pitch and oil, and archers light the fires. I'll not have the city fall from disease after we've held the city thus far." It was ruthless, and perhaps cold, but a necessity. Understanding that with every war, the death and decay were among the real >

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : threat after the battle had been won, there was only one way to ensure safety on this kind of magnitude. "I want the gates reinforced. Set up just outside of the city, open the gates as well. If they come, we'll close them. Archers, keep them at bay." With the Paleblood now beyond archer range, there was plenty of space for them to set up a defense for the next wave. If it ever came. "We will not be able to get supplies into the city through the gates still, but we can ensure our force is able to fall >

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : back safely should they fail to hold the line." Walking along the wall, Viktor had been talking to the various Commanders and Captains that now joined him. They would lead the smaller companies of men into battle, to set up what their General deemed necessary. "Any ogres, I want them felled instantly. Set up ballistas upon the towers, take them out before they get to the walls." Large creatures, immensely powerful.. The walls would not hold with them coming against them. "We will not advance on them, >

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : however. They number too high in number, and we've sustained heavy losses. We'll pick them off slowly, a little bit at a time. Wyverns and dragons are to monitor for any incest activity. Burn them from the sky before they even get close." Back down the towers, into the city once more while Viktor's steps carried him toward the castle, a place where the hill was lined with dozens of soldiers, the gates guarded with defenses set up. The enemy would likely never get this far, but that wasn't a risk Viktor >

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : was willing to take. "This darkness cannot last forever. We will hold out. We will prevail. And we will send them back to the depths whence they came." Eradicating them was impossible. Viktor knew it. Viktor understand what they were, -who- they were. And with such information, he knew just how many there were. That was the most terrifying thought of all. "You all have your orders. Do the Empire proud." They were dismissed, and Viktor once more headed back toward the towering monolithic structure, >

Ѵɪᴋᴛᴏʀ▪Fᴀʟʟᴏɴ : climbing the hill as his mind went over plans, decisions, and more importantly, recovery. ||
